Biblical reasons why you should never masturbate

What are the biblical reasons why you should never masturbate in your life and is masturbation a sin?

Every time you masturbate, you create an energy field that attracts demonic entities into your body. It’s like you have opened a portal for all kinds of strangers to come in and take over.

This can be likened to prayer. When you pray or worship, you create a presence; an environment that affects your spirit and connects you to God. Similarly, the moment you are enjoying arousing and pleasuring yourself, you are affecting your immediate spiritual environment and its presence.

Sexual pleasure releases the greatest spiritual energy in our environment which invokes demonic forces if the act is sinful or attracts God’s presence when the act is done within the confinements of the marriage bed. Remember, sex is the greatest form of worship to God within a marriage, as it emulates the union we have with Christ.

I am writing this from experience. I remember when I used to masturbate the environment of my room would suddenly change and all kinds of wicked thoughts and desires would start streaming in.

Biblical reasons not to masturbate

1) It distances you from your spouse.

Masturbation gives you a false sense of self-gratification; that you can satisfy yourself and hence you start thinking you don’t need a partner to achieve this pleasure. This is damaging to your relationship, as one person is already satisfied and will have little or no desire to fulfill the other’s sexual needs.

Most people view it as a quick fix in long-distance relationships and also to attain orgasm if their spouses are unable to make them achieve that.

Habits develop into character, and in the long run, your masturbation will distance you from your spouse. The sexual bonding will have been destroyed, as you no longer need your spouse to achieve pleasure. Sex is intended to bond couples together as they fulfill each other’s desire, the contrary is true with masturbation.

2) It is the equivalence of fornication and adultery.

Masturbation is a sexual sin. The moment you are masturbating you tend to fantasize about someone else who is not your spouse, hence fornicating with him/her in your heart. Jesus taught in Matthew 5:27-28 that “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

In reality, you are lusting after someone and the act of masturbation is triggered by lustful thoughts. This person can be your ex, a celebrity you desperately admire, or anyone else.

By masturbating you are feeding your carnal man at the expense of your precious spirit man. The Bible argues us to “walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so you do not do what you want.” (Galatians 5:16-17).

In verses 19-21, Paul describes the works of the flesh and its fruits. Some of which are selfishness, fornication, and adultery. However, those who walk by the Spirit have the fruit of self-control which restrains them from indulging in these sins.

3) Masturbation fuels the desire for porn.

The majority of those who masturbate tend to spice the process with pornography to attain a desired sexual climax. You have already opened the door for all kinds of perversions and by the end of the day you end up as a porn addict. In the process, you expose yourself to a distorted concept of sex.

It is true to say that porn also fuels the desire to masturbate. Once you have aroused yourself you resolve to masturbate as a quick fix to relieve yourself.

4) Masturbation is addictive by nature.

Just like porn, masturbation is also addictive. You try it intending to explore your body’s sexual desires and end up entangled in sin. Anything that distracts your body’s normal functionality should be refrained from. It ends up becoming an idol, hence, contesting for the place of Christ in your heart.

It is scientifically proven that masturbation affects your productivity. Consequently, making you ineffective in all areas of your life including sex.

5) Masturbation destroys your soul.

As I said earlier, it is a form of adultery and idolatry as you are exulting your pleasures above God; hence, destroying your soul.

Solomon said that “He who commits adultery has no sense; he who does it destroys his soul. wounds and dishonor will he get, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.” (Proverbs 6:32-33).

You should know that “each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” (James 1:14-15).

6) Masturbation defiles your body.

Your body is the temple of The Holy Spirit and not a brothel for prostitution. You were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

How then should we handle our bodies? By offering it as a living sacrifice to God for this is our spiritual worship. For it is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God.” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5).

Our bodies are to be set apart for the glory of God, by shunning youthful lusts and crucifying the flesh with its passions and sinful desires.

Should I masturbate to achieve orgasm?

Masturbation defiles the sanctity of the marriage bed. Love is giving in nature and not selfish. It doesn’t matter whether you are doing it in the context of making love with your spouse. As a woman, if you fail to attain orgasm naturally, you shouldn’t try to stimulate yourself to achieve it. Instead, ask your husband to stimulate your genitals or breast through oral stimulation and rub your genitals with his finger or penis. This way, there will be a sense of giving, as your husband devotes to pleasure you. Each should seek to meet the other’s needs, not theirs.

The Bible declares in 1 Corinthians 7:3-4 that “The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband’s body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.” One biblical characteristic of love is that it is not self-seeking, hence true love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

These are the 6 biblical reasons why you should never masturbate, resist the enemy and he will flee from you.
