Prophetic tools were and are still used today as vessels by which God manifests His wonder-working power. They are also carriers of God’s presence and His healing power.
God did extraordinary miracles through Paul so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. Acts 19:11-12
What are prophetic tools?
These are items used as a point of contact or vessels through which God performs miracles. The prophetic tools act as the medium through which the Holy Spirit moves to touch lives and perform wonders.
A good example is the rod of Moses the servant of God which turned into a snake. Yahweh used it to work wonders and exercise judgment in Egypt the land of captivity.
God cannot be limited. He uses whatever he desires as a prophetic tool to serve His purpose. For example, He asked Moses to make a bronze snake.
Examples of prophetic tools used in the Bible.
1. The staff of Moses.
When God called Moses to deliver the people of Israel, he transformed his rod into a mighty weapon and tool of deliverance and healing. (Exodus 4:3-24). Through this prophetic tool, God did wonders in Egypt. Such as swallowing Pharaoh’s snakes, turning water into blood, and dividing the Red Sea. (Exodus 14:16).
Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:16

2. Salt.
Elisha treated water using salt. The waters in this city were notorious for causing miscarriages in animals and humans. This water was bad and the land was also unproductive. The prophet threw salt into the spring and commanded it to bring health, prosperity, and productivity. (2 Kings 2:19-22).
Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.'" 2 Kings 2:18
To many people it was just salt, however, to God it was a tool by which He worked miracles through his prophet.
3. Handkerchiefs and aprons (clothes).
Handkerchiefs and aprons were used through faith to heal the sick and deliver the demon-possessed. God use His servant Paul in mysterious ways through these prophetic tools, aiding in the spreading of the gospel to the Gentiles. (Acts 19:11-12).
“These prophetic tools only work through Faith.”
The people believed in the teachings of Paul and through faith in Jesus Christ, were prompted to carry handkerchiefs and aprons to their sick relatives and friends. These tools carried with them a supernatural anointing that healed and delivered them.
4. Piece of wood.
After crossing the Red Sea, the Israelites couldn’t find fresh water to drink as the water at Marah was bitter. Then God instructed Moses to throw a piece of wood He had shown him into the water and they became sweet. (Exodus 15:23-25).
When one of the sons of the prophets was cutting down a tree, the borrowed iron ex-head fell into the river. They wanted polls to expand the territory. He then cried out to Elisha to help him out, and the prophet took a stick and threw it in the river. Consequently, through God’s power, the iron axhead floated. This was a miracle as an exa can never float on water. (2 Kings 6:5-7).
The man of God asked, "Where did it fall?" When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float. 2 Kings 6:6
5. A bronze snake.
This is one of the weird prophetic tools ever used. It was meant to symbolize the death of Christ, through which many will be saved by looking to Jesus.
Israel rebelled against the LORD and He sent them serpents which beat them causing massive deaths in the camp of the Israelites. After Moses pleaded mercy for them God ask him to make a bronze snake and when they looked at it, they were healed.
This bronze serpent was used as a tool of healing even though it had a greater prophetic implication of the suffering and death of the coming Messiah. (Numbers 21:5-29).
6. Anointing oil.
Anointing oil is used in the Bible to represent the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, it was also used to anoint King, the temple, and the high priest. (Exodus 29:21).
In the New Testament, anointing oil is used for healing. The church elders would anoint the sick and pray for them and as a result, God heal them. (James 5:14-15).
Anointing oil as a prophetic tool is used as a medium through which the Holy Spirit manifests. God created the world to be inhabited by humans with a body and not spirits. He established this principle and he cannot break it as He does not contradict himself.
Since God is a spirit he is also limited to His word. This is the reason why His spirit uses a medium to operate in this world. Jesus taught that demons who had been cast out of people could not bear the conditions of the desert. That is why they were desperate to find a host. (Luke 11:24-26). They cannot find rest without a host or in a medium. That is where the whole concept of prophetic tools comes from.
When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ Luke 11:24
7. Water.
Water was used ceremoniously for cleansing. (Read Leviticus 15:1-33). It is also likened to the word of God which sanctifies us. (John 17:17). In the beginning, the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters, and to this very day, He still moves mighty through the water.
The use of prophetic tools in The Bible.
We have seen the examples of these tools above and how they were used. Prophetic items were used to serve the following purposes.
These tools are used to break the yoke of the enemy. The yoke of sin, sickness, and poverty. Through them, many people have been set free and blessed. Remember it is your faith in Christ that saves you. The prophetic tools are powerless if you don’t believe.
Are prophetic tools still in use today?
Yes, they are used in the church to aid in spreading the good news. We follow the example of Paul who also ministered using prophetic tools. They are not an Old Testament philosophy, as the God of Moses, Elijah, Elijah, and all the prophets are still the same today. (Hebrews 13:8).
He does not change even though he can change the approach. Therefore, these items are as real and significant as they were in the days of old.
People should be cautioned when using these tools. There are already many false teachers and prophets who are selling snake oil (witchcraft). Only pick prophetic tools from an altar of God, the altar of Fire.
Examples of prophetic items used in the church today.
There are many prophetic tools used today. As I said earlier, God can use whatever he desires to minister to his people therefore this list only serves as an example.
Should prophetic tools be sold in the church?
These items are not sold, however, you must give an offering to get one. The reason simply being a lot of church resources have been used to purchase and package them. Therefore it is wise to give a good offering to encourage the production of more of these tools. Something else, someone has devoted themselves fully to fast and pray for them, and hence they should not be taken for granted.
While picking a prophetic tool don’t look at the quantity, instead, think of the power that flows in them. For God has chosen the foolish things for His glorification, and I know these tools may look foolish to many. (1 Corinthians 1:27-29).
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are. 1 Corinthians 1:27-28.
The dangers of using prophetic tools.
As much as I advocate the use of prophetic tools, there is a setback to consider. Our primary focus should always be Jesus Christ and nothing else. We cannot substitute Him for anything. Therefore, the use of prophetic items without faith in Jesus Christ is futility and a waste of time.
Remember the focus is not on the tools but on the power that flows in them. For it is the Holy Spirit who works through them to do wonders. Therefore, don’t put your hope and faith in any tool or object but in God and the tool shall work wonders for you.
There is a lot of idol worship today and you don’t want to be caught up in the practice. The reason I’m saying this is because some have forsaken the truth and turned to the strange doctrine which is not biblical. (1 Timothy 1:3, 1:19, 4:16, Titus 1:9, 2:1).
For example, some people feel insecure when they don’t carry these tools around with them. That which was meant to be a blessing turned to be a snare and hence misled them. Focus on Christ, and then use prophetic tools. (Colossians 3:1-3, Hebrews 12:1-2). People can be easily caught up in something and loss its true essence.
These tools should be used as aiding material in advancing the Teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. They are powerful in demonstrating the power of God when used in the right way. (1 Corinthians 2:4).
A classical example is that of Israel in the reign of Hezekiah. These people burnt incense to the bronze snake that Moses had made. They idolized this one great prophetic tool and a symbol of deliverance from their sins. The thing turned out to be a snare to them and they defiled themselves by offering sacrifices to it.
This is the same snare many Christians are caught up in if they lack the right information concerning these tools. (2 Kings 18:4).
He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones, and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan). 2 Kings 18:4
Where can I find prophetic tools?
There are many places to find prophetic tools, however, I caution you to be wise lest you are introduced into a cult.
I know of one place in particular where you can obtain prophetic tools. At the altar of Jesus Teaching Ministry headed by the anointed man of God Apostle Peter Manyuru. He is a true prophet of God and a very humble man.
I have been using prophetic tools from JTM and my life has not been the same. I used to experience severe pain in my knees but when I use the Covenant anointing oil the pain vanished.
I used to struggle with porn addiction and through the use of prophetic tools, I am now totally free. Every bondage is broken and my heart is renewed for the glory of God.
I love this.God bless you
Amen. Glory be to God
